So sad.

Aaron's grandma passed away yesterday. Good bye Grandma Joyce.

What a special lady. She had a hand in raising Aaron, and often would tell me how special he was to her. She doted on her family and spoiled Seth and Nolan. She was a wonderful wonderful lady, and she will be sorely missed.

Gotta Go Gotta Go Gotta Go Right Now

The song from that commercial for incontinent bladders is stuck in my head. And on that note....

Being 2 is hard.

Is it wrong that the look of panic on Seth's face cracks my shit up?

Thankful Thursday

So, following Tib's lead, I thought I'd participate this week in a round of Thankful Thursday. So, the following are what I am evah so grateful for at this moment.

1. Coffee. I am so frickin' tired this morning, there is no way I am going to make it through today without some much needed java. (she says AFTER a 20 oz. iced coffee this morning already.)

2. That Nolan woke up at about 5:15 and even though he was a tad frantic, he alerted us that he 'needed to go peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee'. My big boy. He is doing so well with the peeing in the potty (and managed a #2 last night as well! WOOT!)

3. Because Nolan woke up so early, Aaron was able to help me get the kids out the door to the car and off to school, he usually is leaving as I am waking them up. It was beyond awesome to have another set of hands, and of course warmed my heart to see how happy the boys were to see Daddy before they went to school.

4. Also because they were up so early, we left about 20 minutes earlier than normal, which afforded me the time to buy the aforementioned coffee. And a granola snack round. And some chocolate donuts for the kids. It was a good morning.

5. That dinner last night was a huge hit. Aaron is picky, we all know this. But worse than that, he seems to like everything that I make that falls into the parameters of what he'll actually put into his mouth. I say 'worse' because ... in being easy to please, it is rare that I get a 'knock your socks off' reaction from him ... I got one last night for the Crescent Ranch Pizza... and the boys ate some (as did I... omg so good)... and it was EASY! I am actually putting together a recipe blog (an updated version of my old one, with ONLY tried and true recipes)... maybe I'll get it up sometime before the new year.

6. That I don't have 8 kids. I just read Multiple Blessings by John and Kate Gosselin... pretty good read, but considering how exhausted and cranky I get with my two, I cannot fathom 8 kids. I am still on the fence about having a third in a few years.

7. My job. I love my job. I don't always love every aspect, and I don't love every person I work with... but I feel very lucky to have a job I like, and a sense of security. Especially right now.

8. Healthy kids. I am reminded how lucky I am to have healthy boys every day... and when I'm saying my 100th prayer of the day for Ben, I am thanking God at the same time that my boys are ok. As a mother I can't comprehend what Ben's mom is going through, and I wish there was something I could do other than praying.

9. Aaron... He is seriously the best. He puts up with a lot of crap, believe me :) and we have our share of spats and such, but I am truly blessed to have him at my side.

10. and lastly... the Target dollar aisle. :) I am done with the boys' stockings thanks to the Target dollar aisle! Ok, I still want to put in some Dora bandaids and maybe some candy, but the bulk of it is DONE. Yippee!

And just for fun... I browsed the last few years of my life at this time and this is what I was up to...

2001 complaining about being sick, Lori and I went solo (without the parentals) to Thanksgiving at my aunt's house.

2002 Lori breaks it down for a travel agency douche bag who is offended that we only showed up for the free weekend in Vegas. Heh.

2003 All about how I hated that idiot I worked with (Satchel) and how he continued to use the restroom even after being notified that the water to our building was shut off. GAH.

As of this writing we are still battling the crud... Nolan has refused dinner the last two nights, and last night we were all in bed by 8pm Crazy!

In other news I have a lunch today with some coworkers and I really don't want to go. But I said I would. But I really don't want to. I usually go work out on my lunch, so I got up early today and did a gazillion lunges and squats and arm work while I watched last night's John and Kate Plus Eight.

I'm so tired of working out and dieting. I am so tired of staying within the same 10lbs... and to be honest I know what I'm doing wrong, and most days I don't do anything to change it. It's my own fault, but I'm damn tired of thinking about it.

Also. MnM's are the debil. They taunt me from their jar in the boys' bathroom. I am fully convinced that they are addictive.

anyhoo, here are some pics...

Tagged by Tiburon

Ok, well she didn't tag me directly, but she tagged anyone who wanted to do this...

All about High School...

1. DID YOU DATE SOMEONE FROM YOUR SCHOOL? Yes. I had one boyfriend named Kris for 4 days in the 11th grade and one named Charles for 5 months that same year.

2. WHAT KIND OF CAR DID YOU DRIVE? I didn't. I didn't get my license till after high school.

3. DID YOU PASS YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE TEST YOUR FIRST TRY? No. And that's all I have to say about that.

4. WHERE YOU A PARTY ANIMAL? No, I was a goody two shoes, didn't go to many parties, and the ones I went to were pretty tame.

5. WERE YOU CONSIDERED A FLIRT? Nope... considered smart and nerdy I think.

6. WERE YOU IN BAND, ORCHESTRA, OR CHOIR? I was in Choir for all four years.

7. WERE YOU A NERD? Pretty much. I cared way too much what people thought of me and let it hold me back. I was extremely shy too.

8. WERE YOU ON ANY VARSITY TEAMS? No, but I was the manager for Varsity Football.

9. DID YOU EVER GET SUSPENDED/EXPELLED? No. I didn't do things to get in trouble at school... never really even got detention or anything.

10. CAN YOU STILL SING THE FIGHT SONG? I can remember most of our alma mater and most of the fight song "Pawnee"... but it wasn't really a song you sing, there are things that are shouted in it, but not sung.

11. WHO WERE YOUR FAVORITE TEACHERS? Mr. Howard and Monsieur LeBaron. I recently found Msr. LeBaron on facebook... and Mr. Howard (choir teacher) and I have kept in touch through the years.

12. WHERE DID YOU SIT FOR LUNCH? Freshman and Sophomore year (and Junior year too) I sat in the cafeteria. Senior year I sat in the yearbook room with my closest friends and we would watch quantum leap and eat our lunch.

13. WHAT IS YOUR SCHOOL'S FULL NAME? Tyee Senior High School.

15. DID YOU GO TO HOMECOMING AND WITH WHO? No, I never made it to any formal dances.

16. IF YOU COULD GO BACK AND DO IT AGAIN WOULD YOU? I don't think so. I loved high school, and I wish I could go back and just tell that girl to loosen up and make friends with those who intimidated me... that they are just people too... and to have more confidence.

17. WHAT DO YOU REMEMBER MOST ABOUT GRADUATION? I have many many memories of graduation. Giving a speech at the grad day assembly, the graduation night party, etc.

18. WHERE DID YOU GO SENIOR SKIP DAY? We didn't have one, we were threatened with suspension and having our right to walk at graduation revoked.

19. WERE YOU IN ANY CLUBS? Yeah, I was S.K.Y (Special Kiwanis Youth) Club and I was on the Yearbook staff.

21. WHO WAS YOUR PROM DATE? Never made it to prom either. Senior year, my friend Quyen and I boycotted prom and went to the movies (saw Crimson Tide) and went to dinner at Red Robin.

22. ARE YOU PLANNING ON GOING TO YOUR 10 YEAR REUNION? It already passed. I went to the family day.

23. DID YOU HAVE A JOB IN HIGH SCHOOL? I had a few. Sold balloons at fairs and parades, worked at a local print shop, and also worked as an after school aide at a daycare.

here I am in the 9th grade. Check out those teal leggings. yowza.

Lori and I got our pics done as a Christmas gift to our parents when I was a junior... she was in 7th grade.

Menu Planning Monday

Due to the stomach issue yesterday, we are having last night's dinner tonight...

Sunday: Chili Bake and corn muffins
Monday:Pizza Casserole
Tuesday:Teriyaki Chicken
Wednesday:French toast, eggs, sausage
Thursday:Chicken Crescent Pizza
Friday: Fish Sticks/chicken nuggets and tater tots or french fries.

So... who else is confused about Thanksgiving this year? I swear the fact that it's on the 27th is confusing people like crazy. I heard people discussing a woman's due date at church today and she said she was due this week on Thanksgiving... then I heard a radio ad yesterday talking about eating Turkey next week... so I googled Thanksgiving 2008 date and reassured myself that it was indeed a week from this coming Thursday. Phew. I plan to make our own little Thanksgiving dinner that weekend... so we have our own leftovers, and I have not begun to buy any of the necessary items.

anyhoo, did you see the Beyonce/Justin Timberlake skit on SNL last weekend? Friggin hilarious. My new favorite line "I'm warmed up like biscuits."

This is how we spent Friday evening. I don't remember what we were watching, but both boys laid with me for about an hour before bed. Clearly they were not feeling very well.

Did I mention that I got another haircut? It's much shorter than I'm used to... but I love it!

Man. It's been a long weekend. The boys were not feeling well Friday night, and I came down with a sore throat/headache/cough on Saturday... Nolan refused lunch then about an hour into naptime (when Seth FINALLY fell asleep) I heard Nolan crying. He had a tummy ache. The next two hours he moaned and cried and whined and writhed... I put a call into the pediatrician's nurse line and they reccomended that we take him in if it didn't get better soon. I had given him some tylenol and that seemed to take the edge off but didn't take care of it completely. I called Urgent Care to see if they thought I should bring him in or if I should just take him to an ER... we decided to take him to the ER, got him dressed and got ourselves ready.

By the time we got out to the car he was fine. No crying, no fussing. We stopped at Fred Meyer to return a movie to the Redbox movie thing, and I picked up some Mylecon... as Aaron reasoned that if it was just gas, there was no reason to go all the way to Children's. (about an hour away)... it was 4pm, and I gave him a dose and we decided to stop for a bite to eat since he was ok. Neither he or Seth wanted to eat (we stopped at Mcdonald's) we bought them happy meals anyway so they could get the Madagascar toys (Nolan perked up enough to say "I want Marty!" So Marty he got. He drank his milk and played with Seth at the table... by the time we left he was considerably better. It was really weird how much he improved. We took a drive through Auburn and the south part of King county and Nolan crashed. He was completely out. We got home around 5:30 and he wanted to go to bed. So we put him down, and fed and bathed Seth.

Around 8 I took Seth in to go to sleep and as soon as I turned on the rainforest cd Nolan popped up and said "I wanna get up!" So I put Seth down and got Nolan up. He ate some yogurt and stole some of my tortilla chips. He played and watched tv. At 9 he had to go pee, so Aaron was helping him in the bathroom and Seth started yelling from the bedroom "Nowan! Nowan!" So I said screw it, and got him up too. We watched Ice Age and hung out. Aaron went to bed around 10:15 and I put the kids to bed at 11.

They slept in until 8 and were UBER whiny today, but seem to be feeling better so thank goodness for that. They are napping now and I am nursing a terrible headache and watching last night's SNL. I also have a sink full of disinfected bath toys... as Seth um... apparently enjoys using the tub as a toilet. I think he scarred Aaron for life. heh.

Hope you're not sick of halloween pictures yet!

Trunk or Treat

My church put on a 'trunk or treat' the Sunday before Halloween. It was a community event, yet rather small, but it was a good chance to break in the costumes and give trick or treating a try. They had several cars that were set up and decorated, and the kids would trick or treat at each one. They had a hotdog, juice and potato chip dinner for a dollar, a cupcake walk, free popcorn, a spiderweb maze (for the older kids) a petting zoo (halloween themed with rats and a tarantula) and fall themed pictures for a dollar. It was a lot of fun!

Lori and Seth brough Lucas up, and Amanda and Chris brought Liam and Audrey.

Edible Playdough

So I decided to do something different and made some edible playdough (ala John and Kate Plus Eight)... the recipe is equal parts of honey, peanut butter, and powdered milk, then add flour for texture.

um yeah. I ended up adding quite a bit of flour as I didn't want it so dang wet, and then gave it to the boys to play with. I had visions of it lasting a little while... I set out cookie cutters and plastic knives and such. It lasted less than 5 minutes. that's right. Less.than.five.minutes.

AND I had several pieces that were flung through the air and landed in spots that I still have not found. Both boys were scolded and put in time out... fucking a... when does the food/stuff flinging age finally come? I am SO TIRED of them throwing food! When they do, meal time is over... you think they'd catch on.

Anyhoo, here are some pics from the first minute and a half or so of the experience... it was yummy too. They both ate a bite or two (I didn't tell them it was edible, Seth just likes to investigate, lol) and I tried it as well. Reminded me of peanut butter balls.
