Hustle and Bustle....

I have today and Monday off... yippee! Tommorrow we are going up to Stanwood to see Aaron's grandma and aunt and uncle (SEE YOU GUYS SOON!) and tommorrow evening I think I will be meeting lori at costco. Sunday morning I am having coffee w/ tatum and then I have to stop at Target for a few last minute things. Then Aaron has to take my car and go get me some tires (I had a flat yesterday)... Monday we are hosting his family for Christmas eve so I will be making pies and yams and such on Sunday, and cooking the rest of it on Monday.

So in preperation, I have done the following today:

-cleaned the boys' room
-reorganized their changing table
-vacuumed their room
-cleaned the miscellaneous shit out of the hallway
-vacuumed the hallway and baseboards... or rather where the baseboards would be if there were any.
-emptied the bakers rack and wiped it down w/ windex (it's glass)
-hand washed all of the glassware that is on the bakers rack
-took down all of the kids' artwork off the dining room wall
-hung up two bulletin boards and rehung their artwork on those
-cleaned out one of the small tupperware dressers
-cleaned the SHIT out of our bedroom
-deep cleaned the closet
-made the bed
-reorganized all of the miscellaneous crap in there (though there is still some left to go through)
-vacuumed the bedroom
-cleaned the livingroom and kitchen
-emptied the kitchen of all unnecessary appliances for the coming few days and put stuff I will need out
-compiled a hefty grocery list
-vacuumed the livingroom (twice I might add)
-swept the kitchen
-done 3 loads of laundry
-ran one load in the dishwasher

and it's noon. HOW is it ONLY noon?!

I still need to:

-go grocery shopping
-go to costco
-p/u a few things for gifts
-wrap the last few gifts
-p/u some candy
-clean the bathrooms
-deep clean the guest bath
-fold the laundry and put it away
-make cookies and fudge
-take some to the neighbors
-on sunday make yams and pies
-figure out how to make the turkey and the stuffing
-put gifts under the tree
-give the boys their big gift
-pack diaper bag
-mop kitchen floor
-iron lace tablecloth (first I'll try putting it in the dryer)

and Aaron needs to:
-take my car in to get new tires
-figure out how he wants to rearrange the living room for monday to accommodate everyone
-put stuff on chairs in front room away
-polish the table and chairs
-figure out why the dvd player in the bedroom won't work

Both boys have a cough and a bit of a runny nose... though I only seem to notice it when they are crying, so I don't think it's very bad at all... the cough I think is just post nasal drip.

We've been working a lot this week on Nolan's disobedience. I don't know if it's the age or what but that boy A. does not fear me or Aaron at all (and he probably should to some degree), and B. Shouting and spanking does NOTHING. If I ask him to do something his knee jerk reaction is to say no, which ... whatever. He says it to say it... he doesn't mean it. He has to be prompted to clean up his mess when he does something like throw food on the floor to the point where I am standing over him repeating myself over and over and over and getting madder and madder and madder. We are also working on him pushing Seth and knocking him down. Time out has been working ok I guess... I should give him a little slack since he's 2.5.... as far as the disobedience goes, that's going to be tougher to break. He is not a bad kid, and he hasn't gotten away w/ murder up until now, but we haven't really dealt w/ it directly... and we need to.

Seth is walking everywhere now... haven't seen him crawl in days. It's a trip to see them walking around together. He looks so dang cute when he walks... sticking his little belly out for balance. He is now banned from touching any cellphones. He killed mine last weekend... He was always pretty good w/ them, but I caught him chewing on it, and apparently that wasn't the first time. The kid had drooled so much into it, it fried the phone and the sim card. LOVELY! Luckily the T-mobile lady saved me some $$ and told me that I don't qualify for the discount until the end of January (when I can get a good phone for CHEAP! by resigning for another 2 year contract)... so she sent me to target to get a prepaid t-mobile phone and she switched my account to it. So I spend about 70 bucks, and now we'll have a back up phone if something like this should ever happen again.

um... we don't yike santa.
We waited TWO AND A HALF hours to see Santa... the kids were not impressed. Of course, as soon as I got Nolan down from his lap he turned and said "tank oo Santa, see later!"

luke didn't mind
Lucas and Santa

and poof... luke appeared!
Since the bitches at the stand wouldn't let us get a snapshot of the boys together... even though we A. waited for (did I mention this already?) FOR TWO AND A HALF FUCKING HOURS, and B. we each bought a package of pictures.. but nooo, whatevs. So I put my mad photoshop skillz to work... and I bet if you turned the brightness of the screen down, stepped back about 3 feet and squinted really hard it might look as if Luke was sitting there and not photoshopped in, lol.

I'll be back after christmas with loads of pics!

Raindrops on Roses...

So, I am taking a page out of Tiburon's book, she did a post a few days ago called These are a few of my favorite things, where she linked and described some of her favorite stuff. So here goes! (I should note that hers is 2007 specific, and mine is just in general.)

1. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Snowflake Flannel Sheets from Target Our house gets downright FRIGID in the winter time, and even though we could pile quilt upon quilt on the bed... we always froze right when we got into bed, and then at some point during the night I would wake up cold. Even with wearing my flannel nightgown and long john pants... and that's w/ keeping the thermostat at 66... we don't like it to be higher than that, or it'll run all night. ANYHOO, these sheets are AWESOME!!!!! They stay put (VERY important!) they are warm, soft... they don't match our bedding, but WHO CARES! I love them so so much, I seriously could go on and on.

2. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Our Bed and table. We just upgraded our bed to this set from IKEA (and our dressers too, but that's coming), and I FREAKIN LOVE OUR BED NOW!!!! The table is where I surf the net on my laptop, filled out my christmas cards, do homework and all that jazz. We want to get the hidden nightstand for this set too, probably after the new year.

3. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Our Dressers, also from IKEA, also from the Malm series. I love these dressers so much, that if Aaron ever leaves me, I might just marry one of the dressers. They have SO MUCH room in them, there are never any clothes hanging out of the drawers anymore... LOVE THEM.

4. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
My Ipod Oh how do I love this little guy... I listen to it every single day. Whether it's my podcasts of Adam Carolla's morning radio show (Which deserves it's own spot on here, I love it!) or at the gym, or recently I've been rediscovering some old favorites (Garth Brooks double live) or just watching old Sex and the City episodes. I LOOOOOVE IT.

5. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Schneider slider pens... the lady at the bookstore at school said they were from Germany... maybe that's why I can't find a website for them. I like the fattest tip; the XB, they are in a word... AWESOME.

6. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Fiber One Oats and Chocolate Bars... these things are DIVINE. They taste like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies... and they aren't skimpy and they are only 140 cals, LOVE THEM!

7. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Bare Minerals Makeup... FINALLY I have found a face makeup that I like! It's a bit pricey, but lasts me a long time, and it's worth it to feel so confident about my makeup.

8. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Body Shop Coconut Body Butter... I love the mango and satsuma too. They smell so real!

9. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Trident Original flavor gum... I chew at least a pack of this a day... seriously. Sometimes 2 packs. When I get lock jaw I guess we'll know why.

10. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Starbuck's Holiday Gingerbread Loaf... this was one of my favorites until I just read that it's almost 400 calories! Holy crap! I haven't had it yet this season, but will be having it this weekend... SO YUMMY. And fattening apparently.

11. Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
John and Kate plus 8... this is my new favorite show. I am obsessed... the first time I watched it stressed me out so bad I didn't want to watch it again, but I did and man... they absolutely fascinate, inspire and scare the shit out of me. Seriously... 8 kids... 6 of them toddlers... if Kate Gosselin can get out of bed every day and deal w/ 8 kids, I can surely deal w/ my 2.

That's it for now... I have other favorites but I'm tired of linking so here is a list of the remainders...

12. Lucky Perfume
13. Curve Cologne (this is what Aaron wears)
14. T-mobile
15. Dixie Chicks "Shut up and Sing" DVD
16. Hot Chocolate Creme Hershey Kisses
17. Bed Head After Party
19. Fuji Apples
20. Long john pants
21. MAC Lipstick in the color Twig
22. Green Tea shampoo and conditioner by Paul Mitchell
23. My Canon Rebel XT camera
24. Dillano's coffee

For Sale...

One 2.5 year old male child. Adorable, but prone to waking up in the middle of the night about once every 2 weeks, calling his brother's name until he too wakes up, and then engaging him in a game of "Who can shriek the loudest." Loving, sweet, also prone to tantrums and throwing food on the floor during dinner time. Not housebroken yet, but gives excellent hugs and kisses.

And A Skinned Knee in a Pear Tree....

Well, my knee is finally starting to heal, thank God, I couldn't stand wearing bandaids anymore, but didn't dare go without them until today.

I am currently obsessing over cutting my hair. Specifically, I want my hair like Kate Gosselin from Jon and Kate plus 8...

If I wasnt' going to be in a wedding in less than a year I would probably go for it, but I think I'm going to wait a while and see if I still love it after Lori and Seth get married.

Seth stunned the shit out of us tonight by using sign language to ask for more... I was absolutely shocked! They get a small piece of chocolate after dinner from their advent calendars and he totally signed 'more'... unprompted and everything! My big boy!! I have not been as diligent w/ him as I was w/ nolan when it comes to teaching him sign language. Of course I'm not home all day either, but apparently his teacher has been working with him... he also knows 'all done' ... my big boy!

Here is a video of him doing the signs tonight and then a video of Nolan talking about his buddy Aidan.

Seth's Sign Language Skillz

oh, and in Nolan's video when I ask him who loves him he's saying "SHARON!" Sharon is one of his teacher's at daycare and she taught all the kids to say that when she asks them who loves them. too cute.

Seriously, I had some green beans too, but primarily I had a lot of oatmeal butterscotch cookie dough and probably 3-4 cookies too. ugh. I feel gross now. I haven't eaten much today anyway, but it wouldn't matter...

My normally 20 minute long commute to school took an hour and 20 minutes this morning, the rain was coming down like the skies had opened up all day long. When I finally got to school (almost an hour late), I did ok... but then I had to leave to go to work... still raining, traffic still sucked and I had to walk a total of about 7 blocks in the pouring down rain, wading through areas that had over 6" of standing water (luckily someone had placed pallets on the sidewalk so you could try and hop from one to the other, it was AWESOME when they would slide because they were floating before my heavy ass hopped on). I catch my bus and ride into the city, get off the bus and make my way uphill to the t. building... it has an underground tunnel that connects to my building. I get inside, go to the salad bar for a salad, get upstairs and walk all the way down the DAMN tunnel and the elevator is freakin' closed.

So I go all the way back outside, walk uphill another block and get inside. By the time I get to my desk I am sweaty, and my hair is a frizzy mess from being under my hood, and I am just done. Work goes pretty smooth, and my boss lets us all leave early due to the weather (severe flooding in several areas around us), and I am happy. I can't take the tunnel down to the other building because it's STILL closed and so I start walking down the steep hill towards my bus stop (about 5 blocks away) and about half way down I fall. And skin my knee pretty bad. It was one of those times where you are blinking back tears because of both pain and embarassment. AWESOME.

I make it down to the bus stop at a snail's pace (as I am PETRIFIED of falling again and my knee is burning so bad I just want to strip off my pants and cry), get back to my bus stop at my car, play leap frog on the pallets once again, and get to my car.

The drive home was uneventful (thankfully), but slow. I decided to make cookies for the charity bake sale at work, and proceed to ruin 2 batches... don't get me started on that. And while dh is bathing the kids, Nolan decides it's an awesome time to take a massive shit. And then of course FREAKS out because of said shit floating in the water next to him. I quickly bathe Nolan in the sink while Aaron fishes out the offensive material and rids the tub of toys (currently taking an antibacterial soak), and then I spend another 20 minutes disinfecting the kitchen sink and bathtub.

and my knee still hurts.

So yes. I can justify those cookies for dinner. Although, I would feel a little less guilty if I was planning on going to the gym tonight. I had planned on it, but my little triple lutz stunt today nipped that idea in the bud... I hope to get back tommorrow. I did workout this morning and will try again tommorrow morning... I hope my knee will be a little less raw and sore tommorrow.

Anyhoo, here are some pics from around the ranch lately...

My little man, I LOVE this sweater!

The tree... I inherited this from my Grandpa when my Grandma passed away... I think my favorite thing about the tree is the little bits of tinsel still caught on some of the branches from Christmases at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

new table set up
Our new table, courtesy of Aaron's uncle, it is much nicer than our old table, and the chairs are sturdier too.

I don't know if you can see it here very well, but Nolan's been breaking out in hives randomly since Thanksgiving... actually, now that I think about it, it's been a day or two since I noticed any on him, but here he had some on his face.

Christmas Card Rejects

I have been hard at work trying to come up w/ a Christmas card design I like... here are the ones that did not make the cut...

Christmas Card Reject
The first draft... I wanted a different saying for it

Christmas Card Reject
I love this card the best, but Aaron doesn't particularly like the colors, he wanted red and green and he pointed out that it was very busy and hard to read

Christmas Card Reject
So I muted the colors a bit and redid the snowflakes, but he still was partial to red and green colors, so back to the drawing board I went...

Christmas Card Reject
This was Lori's favorite, but I think the lights are much too big

Christmas Card Reject
something was still not right to me with this one

Christmas Card Reject
This looked good to me on the screen, but when I printed it out, it was very bare looking and I didn't like it.

I *think* I might have one that will work, of course, I need to print it out and see how it looks on paper first.

Hot Wheels...

Our home has been overcome by hot wheels. I am probably more to blame than Aaron, as it's now a compulsion... any time I am in a store I check their stock to see if there are any we don't have. Nolan and Seth enjoy them so much, (especially Nolan)... and Aaron and I get a kick out of the different kinds.

It makes me smile to find the hotwheels all over the house. To see how Seth prefers the green cars and to see how attached Nolan gets to them. Last week it was the tow trucks, he was obsessed... to say the least. This week it's his new fire truck... he has about 6 of them, but this is one w/ a ladder still attached to it ... he has to have it in his hand constantly. He was looking for it and saying "fie tuck... fie tuck... whey awe you?" Seth has also decided to be partial to it, so I bought another one today.

hotwheels 12
This is the magic hotwheel drawer... if Nolan knew this drawer existed he'd probably shit his pants. This drawer is reserved for stocking stuffers and special occasions as well as when potty training starts.

hotwheels 11
this is most of the stuff that they play with on a daily basis, minus the few that are scattered throughout the house and the several at my mom's.
