Stuff and Junk and Things Like That.

We are watching old home videos that Aaron burned to a dvd right now. Nolan just over 2, and Seth was about 10 mos old. I have a hard time remembering them being that small. The boys get a kick out of watching them, as do I.

I have been meaning to post about the boys... about how Nolan thinks it's hilarious to pee on Seth in the bath. It's awesome. And Gross.

Also, as mean and bossy and whatever else Nolan can be to Seth, I think we must be doing something right. When we picked them up earlier this week, Nolan's teacher told us that Nolan is a good big brother. I guess Seth had fallen, and Nolan saw it and though he didn't get off of his bike, he dragged his bike through the bark up to where Seth was to see if he was ok.

Last night we had to stop at the grocery store on the way home. I asked Nolan if he wanted to come to the store with me and he was adamant that I bring both he and Seth with me. He kept saying "I want to bring bofe of dem." and gesturing to himself and Seth at the same time.

Then tonight Aaron was disciplining Seth and Seth being 2 and headstrong and newly independent, decided that that shit was for the birds and started screaming and crying. Nolan watched and then yelled at Aaron "No! Be nice to my Sethy!!!!"

It really is nice to see that he is protective and caring... for so long we've been running interference on Seth's behalf, and while I suspect we will be for a while still, it's nice to see that brotherly love too.

Mama So Seepy

So yeah. My butt is DRAGGING today. I am drinking the first of what will inevitably be many caffeinated energized drinks today.

Our power went out last night around 11pm. In fact, at 11pm on the dot. We had gotten a notice earlier in the week saying that we would lose power from 11pm until approximately 6am, and I had thought the date was for tonight, not last night. I realized my miscalculation yesterday. So we dealt with it... er rather, I dealt with it.

Aaron sleeps like a damn rock... so much so he doesn't remember our little spat at 2am last night when shoved him and told him to ROLL YOUR ASS OVER PLEASE. He took offense to my tone, and then REALLY took offense when I poked his shoulder hard and said THIS SHOULDER should be facing THAT WALL. He respondend by calling me grumpy and getting a pissy attitude.

I respondend by saying "Well I've only asked you to roll over like 29 fucking times, and every time you say ok and then don't do it, and end up SNORING IN MY DAMN FACE." He huffily rolled over and I finally fell back to sleep. I was up and down from the time the power went out to check on the boys. I don't like not being able to hear them, and since the monitor wasn't working I was a nervous nellie.

Luckily, Aaron had charged his ipod and gotten his battery operated speakers down and ready, so when the power went off, I went in their room and set it up. Seth was up and crying, but fell back asleep pretty quick.

I got up 3 more times between 11 and 3 (when the power finally came back on) to pee, check on the boys, and make sure they were covered up... the temp dropped to like 64 degrees ... which felt like 44. (We usually keep the heat set to 70 at night.)

So yeah. Miso Tired.

hmmm

I have $30 to blow at amazon.com.... what should I buy? Suggestions?
Let's Recap

I went home last night and basically crashed. Within 2 hours Aaron went from feeling fine to vomiting and feeling not so fine. He is home sick today; existing from the couch. I took the boys to daycare and came in; I feel better, but am EXHAUSTED. And weak. And in the past half hour or so my tummy started gurgling.

*sigh*

Add to that a cranky 3 year old who was hell freaking bent on making his brother cry REPEATEDLY this morning, and fighting me tooth and nail on every thing whether it be how much milk I poured in his cereal, to whether or not I pulled his socks up far enough, how he didn't WANT daddy to help him go pee, and how he didn't WANT medicine on his chin, and how he didn't WANT to go see his friends, and how my choice of shirts wasn't up to snuff, then he refused to help me get his underwear on, and then he refused to get his pants on, and the freak out about wearing his hat... to me wrestling a 2 year old into his car seat and barking "THIS IS NOT OK, I DO NOT LIKE THIS ONE BIT." and having that same 2 year old look up at me with a bewildered expressions and say "sowwy"... and it's been a hell of a morning.

Let's not forget that after I got Nolan in his seat, loosened his straps a bit as he was having a freak out about how tight they were "too tight! too tight!!" and then I tried to get the godforsaken stereo out of it's plastic case...but it wasn't budging and any and all patience I had was gone. Nolan started taunting Seth with a toy he had and Seth started to cry and argue back and basically I was ready to kill, and he started bitching about how he wanted a red poptart and not a blue poptart (like he could tell; the organic ones all look THE SAME)... and I lost it. I screamed that I have had it with this shit and if he didn't shut his mouth then I was going to throw away his poptart. He immediately piped up with "You don't say shit, that's a bad word." I replied with a loud "I am your MOTHER, I can say WHATEVER I WANT. NOW SHUT YOUR MOUTH AND EAT YOUR POPTART PLEASE."

Thankfully, it was fairly quiet after that. No wonder I am exhausted.

Today in Bullet Points

Because I'm tired and too lazy to write it out paragraph style.

*Today started at 6 a.m. SIX.A.M.

*I was not happy about that and spent the first 2 hours in a total fog. Sitting on the couch, dozing and watching Friends while the kids played.

*Nolan had a very rough morning. Aggressive, irritable, and extremely difficult to please. Didn't want his cereal, but didn't want anything else either. Yelling at Seth all the time, refusing to help clean things up, getting into general mischief.

*Aaron got up at 8am to a very cranky wife. (I have already apologized.)

*I decided to take the boys up to the store with me, we got out the door and down to the car, and Nolan decided he wasn't going to listen. (this is after SEVERAL incidents of him not listening, disobeying and being generally a gigantic pain in the ass.) so I decided screw this, and took him back upstairs. I told him maybe next time if he made better choices he could come with me, but not today. He proceeded to freak the heck out and have a humongolous meltdown.

*Seth and I went to the store and got what we needed without incident. Hallelujah.

*We get home and Aaron and Nolan meet us downstairs. We needed to move the jeep over to his uncle's house. It took a while to get the jeep started; and the whole time, Nolan was screaming in hysterics in the car. He saw that I had bought Seth a new car, and wanted one. I explained that when we make poor choices, we don't get new cars. Maybe next time he could get one. Aaron mentions to me around this time that Nolan had been complaining of a stomach ache.

*We get the jeep started, and get going. I follow Aaron, and Seth falls asleep in the backseat. Nolan is still crying. it is about 11:15 or so.

*I notice about 10 minutes into the ride, that Nolan has fallen asleep. "Sweet" I think to myself. Not 10 seconds later he starts to whine and vomit all down the front of himself in the carseat. I think we are both so stunned at first that it's dead silent. We look at each other in the rear view mirror and his expression was "O.M.G.W.T.F" ... Luckily I had the presence of mind not to freak out, and I just said "It's ok buddy." He then notices the puke on his hands and is beyond pissed.

*I call Aaron and let him know what's going on; we are about 10 minutes from his uncle's house at that point. I continue to reassure Nolan that it's ok, he's ok... yadda yadda yadda and he is screaming "WIPE ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!! MAMA!!!!!!!!!!!! I NEED A WIPER!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

*We finally get to Aaron's uncle's and I get out of the car and search the trunk in the hope of finding a bag and some paper towels or something. I find baby wipes and start to clean Nolan up... and quickly realize that this is not a quick job. He had ... vomit all down the front of himself, pooling in his carseat. I yell for Aaron and tell him we need to leave like NOW. He explains the situation to his uncle and we leave.

*Nolan cries/screams the whole way home... is pissed because we have the windows down and he's cold, but um... dude STANK.

*We get home and I get Nolan undressed outside; and get him into the bath. He's not exactly thrilled about taking a shower at this point, but is much calmer. I get him out of the bath and he starts freaking out again and I tell him to pull himself together, he needs to calm down and chill out. I walk out of the room to throw his vomit clothes in the wash and it's quiet and I hear seth say "yookit nowan.... yookit nowan..." (look at Nolan) I go back in the room and he's vomiting again. *sigh* I manage to catch most of it in a bath towel; by this time it was mostly stomach acid. I get him cleaned up again, and dressed in some new jammies and set him up on the couch while I get Seth lunch (yogurt and fruit... luckily it was a hit) and get started on the monstrous amount of laundry we've amassed in the past hour. (Aaron was outside at this time cleaning the car seat and removing the straps and cover for laundering.)

*Seth goes down for nap and Nolan starts to whine on the couch. Aaron was sitting with him and grabbed the paper sack, and Nolan vomited AGAIN.. and put most of it in the bag. THANKYAJESUS! He cries for some water and I let him have a little.

*For the next half hour or so he lays on the couch and watches Caillou. He is pale, not running a temp and not totally lethargic, but clearly under the weather. He drinks a bit of water, and then starts to cry again and this time projectile vomits water on me, on the blankets and on his pillow.

*I get him to sit on the floor and I strip the couch and cover it in new blankets and towels. I get him changed into another set of pj's and he takes residence again on the couch. It's now about 1:30pm.

*I laid down for a nap around 3, woke up at 5 or so with a start. Nolan was still laying on the couch; Aaron was hanging out with him and seth was still asleep. We got seth up and hung out for the next few hours.

*I went up to fred meyers around 7 to get some pedialyte because Nolan hadn't peed since before we left for Aaron's uncle's this morning. I also got him some saltines. Daddy and Seth had pizza for dinner... Nolan keeps asking for lunch, and I told him he could have some crackers if he tried to go pee. He tried and he did go; phew.

*It's 8pm, I'm still pushing water and pedialyte (he doesn't like the 'juice' ... I mixed it with some propel, but he still doesn't like it. But if he wants crackers he has to drink some.) and he has had 6 crackers so far. I give him 3 and then if he is ok for a half hour he can have 3 more. I just don't want to tempt fate.

*Aaron is going to sleep on the couch tonight, I am going to have Nolan sleep with me, so if there are any issues with vomiting/diarrhea etc I am there to help, and not sleeping through it. Wish me luck.

And how was YOUR Saturday? ;)

Ps. I went to court yesterday, they reduced my fine to 75 bucks. woo. I also wanted to note that I usually do wear my seatbelt, for whatever reason that day I didn't. We were in a rush to get to church, it was Nolan's first day of Sunday school and for some reason I didn't think to buckle up.

Thanks for your comments on the turbo tax vs. h&r block stuff too. I think we may attempt to use turbo tax ... if we can't handle it, we will definitely go to our tax lady.

Now, I must go do yet ANOTHER load of laundry. Here's to hoping tommorrow is better... and if anyone gets the bug, let it be me! (Mama's pants are tight right now.)

so happy to be outside!

You Should Read These Blogs

Here are some blogs written by people I know in real life... not just on the web:

Jen An old friend of mine has a blog; I didn't realize it until I saw she followed my blog. I now follow hers! (Jen if you don't want me to link to you, just let me know.)

Ash... almost a sister to me, we have known each other since she was like... 2? Even younger?

Kamp Koala Sarah is from Australia, Her dh James is from England... and their oldest son Adam was Nolan's first friend. :) (Besides his betrothed, Julia.)

Kiddoville Written by Stephanie, mom to Brooke and Jack. We used to belong to the same mom's chat board, and have met up at a lot of playdates over the years.

Mel While Melissa and I have never met in person, we've chatted on the phone and she is a huge inspiration to me. 6 kids and a great outlook on life... 5 adorable little girls and their newest addition a sweet baby boy. ::heart::

Sara We used to belong to the mom's chat board together as well, and I've only met her once when our boys were teeny tiny, but she is super nice, funny, and I can't wait to "meet" her little girl, who is due any day now!

Dani Another mom's group gal, I've met up with her at the playdates several times over the years. She has 3 gorgeous little ones, and is a knockout herself!

KaiserTales Written by my old friend Nate and his wife Marisa. I love blogs... it really is an awesome way to see how people are doing.

The Bean Written by one of my oldest friends - Jessica, and her family (fiancee Kevin and son Andrew)... we've known each other since 3rd grade.

Tiburon Tib and I met on that mom's board, and I have met up with her a few times over the years, when she has made it back to Seattle. She makes me drool though with her posts about cafe rio... we don't have that up here and I'm dying to try it!

Today is my Friday.

I have to go to court tommorrow for a ticket I got back in September. I was nabbed for expired tabs and using my cellphone. I could have been nabbed for speeding and not wearing a seatbelt ... but the cop didn't notice the seatbelt, and didn't cite me for the speeding. It was a $250 ticket, I signed up for the defensive driving class my city offers, in an effort to expunge the ticket from my record. I took the class, paid the $100 fee and now find out that I still have to appear for the cell phone usage. And possibly pay the $150 buck difference.

*sigh*

I really really hope they take pity on me, we cannot afford $150 bucks at this point in time. But I will suck it up and pay if they tell me I have to. I am hoping the judge will see that I took the class, and see that I have a pretty good record, and let me go. But I kind of doubt it.

Also, we are thinking of using turbo tax this year for our taxes... we usually use H&R Block... have any of you used Turbo Tax? Love it? Hate it? Please let me know what you think.

Mama! Chock-oh-lott!

daddy, seth, and a NEW william!
Santa brought Sethy a NEW William (we now have 3... a ratty ass one, a less ratty one, and a pristine clean one)... he promptly dropped his ratty one, and held the new one with the tag up to his lip. Quality control at it's finest. It looks like it passed muster!

first movie in a movie theater!
The week after Christmas we took the boys to their first movie in a theater. We went to see Madagascar 2, and it was a hit! Well, Nolan thought so. Seth was too busy running circles in the open area directly in front of our seats. I was busy laughing at Seth and Aaron was busy having a big giant cow about Seth running in circles in front of our seats. He later took him out to the lobby.
