HAPPY BIRTHDAY AARON!

I am so glad today is Friday. Seriously, I went to the gym every day this week, I will do yoga this weekend, and start the trend all over next week with another uninterrupted streak. I feel so much better about myself when I actually get my ass up and moving.

I made Aaron's birthday cake last night, I'll put a picture up next week. It's a yellow cake, with blackberry jam filling, and I frosted it in chocolate. Then I froze some Reeses Peanut Butter Cups and stuck them in the chopper. I smooshed the crumbs/chunks on the side of the cake and sprinkled them on top too. I don't know if I can adequately describe the divine sacrifice it was not to eat one single peanut butter cup. They are in the top 2 of my all time favorite candy... *sigh* the smell alone was torture.

In honor of his birthday, Aaron and one of his best friend's are going to Hooter's today. Then tonight after work, we are going to my mom's for dinner. She's making his favorite: Monte Cristo sandwiches. After dinner I am taking him out on the town. I love birthdays. He opened his gift from me last night, otherwise he would have had to wait until tonight to open it, I got him a dvd/cd burner with 25 dvds. He's all excited now, thinking about all the possible projects he can do. I'm really glad he liked it!

This weekend we are going up to North Bend with Aaron's family to lay Vince to rest. They are going to spread his ashes at his favorite spot in the woods up there. They are camping out, but I think we are going up on Sunday; Aaron still has a nasty cold, and I am worried about catching one.

THE FRIDAY FIVE

What was...

1. ...your first grade teacher's name?

Shit, I'm not sure... I think it was Mrs. Bates. Lori had Mrs. Boyd, I remember that plain as day... I think mine was Mrs. Bates... wouldn't put money on it though.

2. ...your favorite Saturday morning cartoon?

Beverly Hills Teens... I don't remember how long it ran for, and I really liked actual shows more, I was addicted to Saved by the bell and California Dreams as well as Clarissa Explains It All, Fifteen, and You Can't Do That On Tv (all on Nickelodeon back in the day.)

3. ...the name of your very first best friend?

Hmmm... probably DeEtta Pingitore, we met in the first grade.

4. ...your favorite breakfast cereal?

I was always easy when it came to cereal. We went through a couple of years when Lori would only eat fruit loops and then there was the 'cinnamon toast crunch' era... that one lasted most of her childhood. Until they changed the formula and she decided they tasted like ass.

5. ...your favorite thing to do after school?

Go outside and play or watch tv, the usual stuff.

And now, a birthday retrospective...

the back of this picture reads "Aaron Russel Martin, 6 months" He looks a lot littler than 6 months though.

Notice the thumbs up and the t-shirt, this was taken in his 'fonzie phase'... he was obsessed with Happy Days at the time.

I LOVE this green leisure suit, heh he was so stylin back in the day! Seriously though, how cute.

I would guess he's about 7 or 8 here... I hope our kids look just like him.

I'm guessing he was about 13 or 14 here. I love the smile, he never smiles this big in pictures.

He was in high school here, not sure what grade. I'm inclined to think he was about 16 or 17... Love the mullet!

Happy Birthday Sweetheart. :-)
